The Federal Council of Ignazio Cassis visits Armenia and Georgia from 14 to 16 October 2026 and is head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs and as President-in-Office of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe.
On 15 October, Cassis meets Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Paschinjan and Foreign Minister Ararat Mirsojan in Yerevan. The peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan, regional cooperation and the role of the OSCE will be discussed.
In Tbilisi, talks with Georgian Prime Minister Iraqli Kobachidse and Foreign Minister Maka Botschorischwili are scheduled for 16 October, focusing on the consequences of the 2008 conflict. Since March 2009, Switzerland has represented Georgia's diplomatic interests in Russia and Russia in Georgia.
The visit is the second part of Cassis’ travel program as OSCE leader in the South Caucasus. In August, he visited Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan. Since the meetings in Armenia and Georgia are still in progress, the announcement does not contain any discussion results or new agreements.
