Switzerland will take part in the annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank from 15 to 17 October 2026 in Bangkok. Federal President Guy Parmelin, Federal Councillor Karin Keller-Sutter and National Bank President Martin Schlegel will form the Swiss delegation.

At the same time as the annual meeting, the finance ministers and the G20's central bank governors meet. Switzerland wants to meet for open markets, reliable framework conditions and resilient supply chains.

Switzerland is to sign a new partnership with the IMF at the conference, which will provide a contribution of 40 million francs for the years 2026 to 2030, with which the IMF can technically support its Member States in building state capacities and institutions.

At the World Bank, Switzerland welcomes the stronger focus on jobs and private investments, combined with poverty reduction, environmental and social standards. In the IMF, it is committed, among other things, to independent analyses, massive lending and sound finance.
